are elders instructed to contact a jw who has written a letter of da before they make the announcement to the congregation?
i mean, even a phone call to persuade them not to take that course of action?
the reason i ask is my father told me that no one contacted him in any way when he mailed his da letter to the elders.
I think Winston posted that they had a non-judicial meeting with him and to their surprise he gave them a DA letter and walked out. They announced it the next week without contacting him or trying to dissuade him
Shotgun
Geez-us shotgun.
My wife answers for me when I get asked Q's in groups.

Wow, great job on the site.
Usually when people ask for crits on their site, I have to reserve myeslf a bit because it's unprofessional and hard to nav around in.
Your's is top-notch!
Easy to nav, looks great, minimal; yet plenty of content that is of interest.Great photography BTW.

I've also recently gotten into "lounge" music---as in New York lounge which plays in the background of some very hip bars, One excellent CD is "hotel costes".....Very, very cool. Min
Min my man, you're on the right track! That is actually trip-hop, or downbeat, or many times it's called 'Chill-out' music. It's very cool music for parties and bars. Goes great with a Gin & Tonic If you really like 'hotel costes' compilations: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/103-9128336-8698220 you owe it to yourself to check out Hed Kandi CD's. They are without a doubt the best Chillout compilations around: http://www.hedkandi.com/section/compilations/ If nothing else, they have the most outright cool & sexy CD covers! And if you like this stuff, you'll like Thievery Corporation. My fav by them is 'DJ Kicks'. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000J5WD/qid=1071878619/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-9128336-8698220?v=glance&s=music Read the reviews and listen to the samples. It's solid baby, solid all of the way through!

i used to get a kick out of how some people used to push the elder's buttons.
sisters would wear a dress that was 1 inch above the knee just to get the brothers going.
or brothers would grow something a little longer than a mustache......what did you do to exert your independence??
I threw a party at a bar where my band and three other JW bands played at.
Sent flyers to 120+ people.
I got a few calls from concerned parents, but parents let their kids come as i was repsected in the area.
Afterwards, the CO busted a nut when he heard of it from surrounding congregations from parents whose kids were invited
Not knowing who threw the party, he proceeded to bring it up at our congregation during our elder and MS meeting. I was sweating, because none of the elders were fessing up to who it was that threw the party. They would tell of some of the details to the CO, but they never said it was me.
I was getting some looks during that meeting from some of the other MS's that were there.
Afterwards, two elders met with me to tell me why it was bad that I threw a party at a bar.
It basicly came down to that it was a flyer invitation and that there weren't proper chaperones, even though i rented a cop to be there to make sure that there wasn't underage drinking.
I concluded the meeting with them saying that next time I have the party, i'll do a direct invite, and that I'll ask for those two elders help in chaperoning the party.
They didn't care for that, but since I tied up their complaints about the event, they couldn't say no.
Min, I guess that was the only point that i was really in the face of the elders. I knew they wouldn't attend, but I threw it in their face anyways.
Besdies that though, I did the whole party thinking that it was ok and that there was nothing wrong with it.
I heard about what a great time people had at that party for years after. It was a blast!
Other things were usually about dress and grooming...
Dyed my hair red while I was a Reg Pio and a MS. Got some looks in service
Crazy bleached hair
Hair too long
Hair too spikey
2 door car for service
One elder proceeded to tell me I had 'BA'
"BO?"
"No, BA."
"What are you talking about?"
"You have Bad Attitude!"
I think the only thing he heard after that was the sound of my eyeballs rolling into the back of my head.
